Suggestions to date include a snake banquet, cocktail function or a day

V-GUARD is going to develop
the following three services:
- Vehicle fleet management
- Security and anti-theft
system
In 2000, we concentrated
our efforts on users of heavy-duty commercial vehicles. But in 2001, light
bus, taxi, light vehicle, private car and motorcycle users will become
a focus. More popular and widely applicable service will be provided to
suit this change.
Do you know apart from
you, many large-scale social organizations, commercial organizations and
government departments have joined U-Drive as prestige members?
Last year, U-Drive and
its strategic partners jointly organized to provide one-stop intelligent
services. It received an overwhelming response, with exceeding the 5,000
members after being established in HK just four months prior. Generous
support from business associates and partners, and the provision of excellent
services resulted in satisfactory performance. In the coming year, we
will continue our hard work in order to reach our target membership of
10,000.
Looking ahead, tourism, leisure and entertainment,
credit card services, and the provision of other multi-services via media
channels will be our main focuses. To tie-in with our slogan "We
Take Care of Anything Else", we promise not only to explore increasing
member privileges, but to provide comprehensive services for our valued
members.
On behalf of all U-Drive staff, I wish you all the
best in the Year of the Snake.
Mr. Allen Yang
Chief Executive
U-Drive Company Ltd.
Hi members and taxi drivers.
Have you noticed the set of rectangular buttons in SCANIA's new cars?
Let us introduce these special keys to you.
SOS
Drivers who travel between HK and the Mainland may sometimes be confronted
with an emergency-they may suddenly become unwell en route, be involved
in a motor vehicle accident, or experience some other personal distress
and it may be difficult for them to seek assistance Now, all that drivers
need do is to press the SOS button and the alarm at the control centre
will be raised. Staff will immediately contact the driver via the driver's
cell phone and provide the appropriate support. In the meantime, if there
is no response from the driver, the GPS system is already tracking the
location of the vehicle real time.
This GPS system is connected to the car's anti-theft
device. When the alarm is raised, the control centre becomes immediately
aware and can provide vehicle coordinates and directions to locate the
car.
If you encounter a traffic accident or injury whilst
on the Mainland, the control centre staff can immediately instruct the
nearest hospital to provide medical support without the need for the driver
to first provided deposit.
Road
Assist Call
You may encounter a breakdown or a tyre burst/ puncture when driving.
Now, with this Road Assist Call, you can immediately contact the control
centre via the cell phone. The control centre staff will arrange services,
such as tyre change, tow truck, taxi and electricity connection for you.
Also, they can help you inform the car owner,or Any other third party
specified by you about the situation.
Choose
by Customer
The SAR Government implemented a new ordinance on 1st July 2000, forbidding
drivers from using mobile phone or other similar wireless communication
tools when driving. Equipped with a hands-free phone system, V-GUARD provides
one-touch communication and enables users to choose two phone numbers
which are used most frequently.
It is only SCANIA's vehicles, but all vehicles equipped
with V-GUARD, that are welcome to use the above services. For details,
please call 2615-6000.

In order to handle the expanding membership database
and various service plans, we have invested in a software and hardware
systems upgrade for our Computer Information Department. We hope that
with more accurate data provided by this upgraded system, our management
will be able to improve service plans to meet dynamic market needs. At
the same time, our members, especially V-GUARD members, will find information
easier to access from the internet, resulting in streamlined vehicle fleet
management and security system.
Organized
by the Transport Department in collaboration with various organizations
in the transport sector, the annual Transport Day 2000 held on 3rd December
2000 was a success. This large-scale transport carnival, which aims to
drive home the road safety message and enhance awareness of the importance
of clean air among the public and transport operators, attracted over
several thousands visitors.
SCANIA is committed to the design and manufacture
of heavy-duty commercial vehicles with environmentally-friendly and low
fuel consumption features as a priority. Both "Forefront" and
"U-Drive" actively participated in this event.
We showcased a SCANIA tractor on-site on that day.
Equipped not only with the EURO III engine but also with V-GUARD's unique
vehicle-tracking and security system, our booth received an overwhelmingly
positive response from visitors. Through a series of demonstrations and
photo opportunities, visitors were able to familiarise themselves with
U-Drive's latest hi-tech products.
